Honest comparison. If your payee data is already clean, a filing provider such as IRISfile files under its own TCC for well under a dollar a form ($0.76 listed on irisfile.co, Oct 2026). That is the cheapest route, and we will tell you so. Switchfile is for messy payee lists and firms with many clients to clean up before January.
Do I need my own IRIS TCC?
Only if you want to upload in the IRIS portal yourself. IRISfile advises applying by Dec 18, 2026 to be safe for January. A provider that files under its own TCC avoids that step.
What changes for 2026 payments?
The 1099-NEC reporting threshold rises to $2,000 for payments made in 2026 under the 2025 tax law, and new boxes are planned for tips and overtime. Confirm with your tax professional.
Do you file for me?
No. We prepare and validate the files. You or your provider submit them.
When is the 1099-NEC due?
February 1, 2027, since January 31 falls on a Sunday.
How big can an IRIS CSV be?
The IRIS portal takes up to 250 rows per upload, so we split larger lists.
